Project #19: Triangles (Photoshop CS6 Beta)

I came across this image on Pinterest and thought it would be a fun and easy project.

Pinned Image

You might recognize my original photo (I’m not much of a photographer unfortunately):

To create even triangles, I traced the Triangle Symbol and used the Polygonal Lasso Tool to trace the shape.  I copied and pasted some parts of the image to different locations in addition to adding some coloured and patterned triangles. (I got the patterns for free from the Creative Market.) This is my finished product:

Project #10: Design Inspired by Matthew Kavan Brooks (Photoshop CS5)

Last month I was browsing WordPress & I came across some sweet graphic art by Matthew Kavan Brooks in a blog entry by The FLOOD

I loved the idea of combining real pictures of flowers with computer graphics and text.  My design turned out quite differently however, it was inspired by these images.

I incorporated a photo of some roses that I received for Valentine’s Day and played around with the colours.  Also, thanks to the following tutorial I learned how to make text see-through for the word “ROSES”:

Finally, I used the Pen Tool to create the ribbon effect but I still need a lot of practice!

Project #2: Focus & Blur Background (Photoshop CS5)

I have always wondered how people get one part of a photo to be in focus while the rest is blurry.  I am pretty stoked about how easy it was to do in Photoshop with a little help from the following vid:
